We would like to introduce our new addition, Imogen Eve Lyle. Born 28 Feb. xoxo
23 Feb - Thanks to Sydney Eventing for a great weekend. Carson Hill placed 6th in the 3 star jumping a great clear XC and SJ. Satch Hill finished a close 2nd in the CNC 1* , Isle de Pomme ran 5th in the Ev105 and in the Ev 95 Revelwood McKenzie finished 6th, Monte Walsh 7th and Haunui Hill 7th. Well done to Amy Goodsall for a clear XC under time in the CNC2*.
Thanks to major sponsors Randwick Equine Centre and the class sponsors Ariat, Mitavite and Rosehip Vital.
10 Feb - Back at it for 2014 After a summer break which involved a lot of fencing FHF started off the new season by sending a team of horses to the beautiful Wallaby Hill Farm for their February event. Of Sam's 5 rides, 3 finished in the top 3. Satch Hill 2nd in Ev 105, Monte Walsh and Isle de Pommes 3rd in Ev 95. Thanks to Alex, Derek and team for yet another spectacular event. Pictured below is Isles de Pomme (owned by Anne Wallace)
8 Nov - Carson wins EQUITANA! Sam and Carson Hill are the 2013 Be the Influence Exhibition Eventing Champions after winning the Grand Final at Equitana. They were the only combination from the class of 13 to jump clear around the tricky course that was in the indoor Dome arena. Sam rode a calculated round and Carson kept his focus in the big atmosphere. A big thanks to Equestrian Australia, Equitana and the major sponsor "Be the Influence" - an Australian Government campaign to tackle Binge Drinking, for providing the opportunity for this exciting class to take place.
4 Nov - FHF sent a team of horses to Canberra Horse trials. Sam won the 2 star on Carson Hill and was awarded the Kevin Dickson Memorial Trophy for winning an official class by the largest margin. Satch Hill was very pleasing in his first 1* start, jumping clear around a tough XC to finish 6th. Leah Scott's talented Revelwood McKenzie finished 3rd in the Ev 95. Karli completed her first-ever 1* with her horse Freedom's Ace. Thanks to NCHTA for a great event.
20 Oct - We enjoyed a great weekend at the Baxter Boots Lynton NSW State Championships in Goulburn. Sam once again had the honorary ride on Christine Bates' Adelaide Hill in the CIC3*. They had a good test to be in 3rd and nice SJ round but it was decided due to hard ground to run just 3/4 of the XC. Thanks to Christine for once again entrusting us with her special horse. Sam now hands the reins back to Christine who will ride him at Adelaide 4*. On the other horses Sam enjoyed a 3rd place on Satch Hill in the Ev 105 and 2 x 6th placings on the Ev95cm horses, Monte Walsh and Tinseltown. He also entertained the crowd by falling off one horse BEFORE jump 1 on the XC.
Our head girl Karli had another super XC round in the 105cm on her own Freedoms Ace to finish 14th. Thanks to the committee for once again hosting a great event.
Below - Sam on Adelaide Hill in the CIC3*
22 Sept - Thanks to Eventing Equestriad for another great event. Thanks to Christine Bates for entrusting Sam with her special Adelaide Hill - it was a good result for all with him finishing a close 2nd in the CIC2*. Thanks also to our other owners Leah Scott, Wendy Manning, Beth Turner and Eleanor Miller - we hope you were pleased your horses.
7 Sept - Sam recently travelled to Hong Kong to teach at the lovely Clearwater Bay Equestrian Centre and the HK Jockey Club. Thanks to Nicky Loiterton of Clearwater Bay for organising a great clinic. Sam is likely to be heading back there again in early 2014. www.ceec.hk
8 Sept - Congratulations to Audrey Collins from Victoria on her recent purchase of the lovely Mudcake. We know she will adore him and we look forward to following their successes.
27 July -SIEC held great mid week and weekend events . The new format of all 3 phases in one day for the mid week events was great. FHF took 7 horses across the 3 events. Carson ran in the 2 star and the 3 star (giving him easy days in between proved a mistake come the dressage on Saturday!) but he jumped really well to be clear xc in both classes. Satch Hill finished 2nd in the prelim for Sam. There were a number of other minor placings amongst the team so all in all it was a good event for us. Well done to the committee for some innovative changes that worked really well. we look forward to the next one.
14 July - Sam had a great weekend at Quirindi CCI finishing 2nd in the 1 star on Kaloona Grace, owned by Georgina Miller. The plan now is to head to Adelaide CCI2*.
Nicky and Karli ventured up to the Tamworth International Eventing CNC leaving Sam at home babysitting! It was a great event it is highly recommended to anyone considering heading up there for their next event in September. Carson Hill jumped a super clear around the 3 star XC and SJ finishing 5th. Karli's horse "Freedom's Ace" finished 10th in the Ev105, also clear XC and SJ. Thanks to the team at Tamworth for a great event. Below Carson over the ditch pallisade.
The recent Berrima Winter ODE was a good event for FHF. Sam placed 3rd on Kaloona Grace in the CNC1* and 2nd on Asanta in the Ev105. Super-groom Karli Hatton placed 4th in the Ev 105 on her own Freedoms Ace. The young horses (Jake, Haunui Hill and Satchmo) were all really good and show lots of promise. Below Haunui Hill.
Congrats to Jemma Clark & Foxdale Amalfi for a great 5th place in the CCI1* at Melbourne 3DE out of was a huge class of 66. Jemma bought "Jake" from FHF in 2012.
Thanks to the committee of Camden Equestriad for another amazing event. Their May CNC event ran 650 horses without a hitch. The courses were great and it is so rider friendly. Sam came away with a 4th in the 1* on Kaloona Grace (owned by Georgina Miller) and 5th in the Newcomers on Jake (owned by Wendy & Chloe Manning) at his first ever outing. Nicky took Carson in his first 3 * and was glad to be back in the big class.
Congratulations to Camille Dennis on her recent purchase of the adorable "Bart'. We are so happy he has a great new home and look forward to seeing them out on the competition circuit.
Sydney 3DE was a great event. Perfect weather added to the great competition. Well done to the Aussie Trans-Tasman Team for a convincing win and to Stuart Tinney winner of the CCI3*. FHF took Carson Hill who jumped very well around the CIC2* for Nicky. Sam rode Asanta in his first Pre-Nov (105) and Over the Limit in the CIC1*.Thanks to the owners of the horses Evy Le Feuvre (Asanta) & Bec Swinton (Over the Limit) and thanks also to the event committee for hosting such a fabulous competition.(Above) Carson Hill (Below) Asanta
Congratulations to Tess Shepherd from Goulburn on her purchase of Sabre. We wish them a great future together and look forward to following their successes.
FHF had a great weekend at Berrima event. The lovely Mudcake was 5th in the CIC 2 star with Sam , Haunui Hill has taken to eventing (even the water jump) and finished 2nd in the Introductory ridden by Nicky, Charlotte D'Arcy rode her first ever event on Derwent Venture for 7th in the Intro. Sam rode Monte to 3rd in his first ever preliminary, Sam also rode Asanta to 9th in prelim and Karli Hatton finished her first Pre novice since moving to NSW with a clear XC. Congratulations to Bols Armstrong for winning the Fox Hill Farm Ev95 class
Monte makes it two for two! Sam enjoyed another win on Monte, this time at Scone. It was only Intro but it was nice to see this lovely horse enjoying his new job. Mudcake and Carson Hill had their first run for the season both clear XC and SJ in the CNC2* with Mudcake - ridden by Sam - finishing in 5th place. It was a great event and especially great to see the beautiful Hunter Valley so green and lush.
Monte wins at his debut! Sam enjoyed a win at SIEC in the Ev80 - his first event on his new horse Monte. Monte - a lovely Warmblood purchased from Virginia Pulbrook, scored 71% in the dressage and finished on that score. Leah Scott's Revelwood McKenzie and Fox Hill Farm's Haunui Hill both had their first start. Both doing nice tests but finding one XC jump scary but redeeming themselves with nice SJ rounds. The heavy rain meant all the XC on Sunday was cancelled so Asanta (prelim) Mudcake (2 star) and Carson Hill (2 star) were all limited to a combined training event. Below - Monte and Sam.
Sam takes a trip to the UK. Sam headed overseas to coach at the Aussie High Performance Squad clinic in UK. He thoroughly enjoyed working with the UK based riders despite the cold weather. The amazing indoor arena at the Unicorn Trust Equestrian Centre made his job much easier! Below Sam works with Chris Burton, Andrew Hoy & Lucinda Fredericks
Wedding bells Sam & Nicky celebrated their wedding on 12 Jan in Bowral. It was great day and night with plenty of Eventers cutting up the dance floor. Thanks to everyone who made it so special.
Foxdale Premiere's first foal was born at Fox Hill Farm on 17 November. A beautifully filly out of a mare by Bao Luck. Foxdale Premiere (by Premiere des Hayettes) is now jumping successfully with Carly Overton in Qld
We took 3 horses to Adelaide 3DE.
This is such a great event.
Our team had some mixed results. Sam rode Merran Wallis’s
Good Vibes and Steph Davies' Mudcake whilst Nicky rode her own
Carson Hill, all in the CCI2*. Good Vibes objected to the first
water jump and Sam called it a day. It was a tough water and “Willy”
was a little green for it this time. Nicky had 20 penalties at the
same jump and was kicking herself as she felt it was purely rider
error. Carson flew around the rest of the course and definitely
coped with the level of the course. Following a really nice dressage
test Mudcake jumped a super round XC. However, a nasty boot rub saw
him too sore to trot up the next day and sadly his event was over.
So come Sunday Carson was the last man standing and he did us proud
by jumping a great clear show jumping round, one of just six in the
whole CCI2*. Below Mudcake and Carson Hill.
Canberra CIC went well for Sam, finishing 3rd and 4th in the CIC2 star on Mudcake and Good Vibes. Sam achieved 2 of the 7 clear Two star XC rounds (out of 32 starters!). He also finished 2nd in the prelim on Asanta.
After a cold start the Baxter Boots Goulburn State Championships was once again one of the best events in the country. We took 4 horses; Sam and Good Vibes (owned by Merran Wallis) got off to a slow start - apparently neither of them liked riding in the snow on dressage day but redeemed themselves on XC flying around the CIC2*. Carson Hill jumped like a champion for Nicky in the CIC2* but his slow jockey kept them out of the prizes (pictured below). Sam rode the fancy little Stalypso gelding, Satchmo (owned by Beth Turner) to 4th place in his first Preliminary start (pictured below). and Asanta (owned by Evy Wiggans) also made his prelim debut and looked like a future star (pictured below).
Welcome Tina! Fox Hill Farm is pleased to welcome Tina Pietruszynski to the team. Tina has replaced Olivia who has continued her travels. Tina, a jumping rider from Germany, is keen to go eventing and we are thrilled to have her at FHF.
We took 5 horses to the Mirrabooka Event in Sept. Three introductory horses; Asanta, a lovely chestnut gelding owned by Evy Wiggans, Satchmo (owned by Beth Turner) & Ego Clementine (owned by Dr. Linda Mayer). Satchmo and Clementine got off to a great start scoring 29.4 and 31.2 penalties in the dressage, whilst Asanta showed his talent on the XC. Sam rode Merran Wallis's Good Vibes to 6th place in the 2 star with the fastest XC of the day. Nicky completed her first 2 star in a long time on the fabulous Carson Hill with a pleasing clear XC and SJ to finish 10th.
Congratulations to Gemma Clarke on her recent purchase of Foxdale Amalfi (Jake). We look forward to following their successes.
Congratulations to Craig Barrett - winner of the Fox Hill Farm 1.05 class at the recent Berrima event. Sam took Beth Turner's Stalypso gelding Satchmo in the introductory for his first start, finishing with just one spooky stop! Sam also ran Merran Wallace's Good Vibes in the CIC1* and will be taking him 2 star next start. Satchmo pictured below.
Eventing Equestriad at Camden in Sept was once again an awesome event with around 550 entries. Nicky rode in her first event since having Ava and Carson was great finishing =2nd in a class of nearly 50 horses in the 1 star. Sam placed 6th in the 3 star on Jake (Foxdale Amalfi) in just his 2nd 3 star start. Mudcake, owned by Steph Davies flew around the 2 star and finished 13th. Below Carson Hill and Foxdale Amalfi at Camden. Pics by Main event Photography.
A good weekend at SIEC: At the recent winter event at SIEC Foxdale Amalfi finished 6th in his first 3*. Carson Hill also upgraded for his first 2* and flew around the XC with just 1.6 time. Mudcake (owned by Stephanie Davies) was really pleasing to finish 6th in the 2* and Under Contract (owned by Emily Dockray) was 3rd in the 1*. Laura Wallace's Crown Prosecutor cantered around the Pre Novice sweetly to finish 13th.
Welcome to Olivia Boos: We welcome Olivia to our team at Foxhill Farm. Olivia, who hails from New Zealand, was thrown in the deep end with 5 horses at her first event at SIEC! We are thrilled to have her as part of the crew.
Introducing Ava Olivia Lyle. Sam and Nicky are proud to announce the birth of their daughter Ava, born on 4 June. Thanks to everyone for their best wishes and all the amazing presents.
We have moved Sam and Nicky have relocated to Sutton Forest in the NSW Southern Highlands (1.5hrs south of Sydney). We are busy setting up the new property. The arena is well underway and should be finished soon.
A good run at Albury CIC Sam finished 4th in the 2 star on Foxdale Amalfi (Jake).
Sam also enjoyed at good weekend at Scone finishing 5th in the 2 star on Foxdale Amalfi and 5th and 8th in the 1 star on Carson Hill and Haldon Hill (pictured below by Main Event Photography)
Carson Hill wins at SIEC Sam enjoyed a win in the Pre Novice at SIEC in Feb riding Carson Hill. (Main Event Photography)
